Situated on the southwest coast of the island of Mahe in the Seychelles, where the sands of the secluded Anse Louis beach are washed by the timeless tides of the warm Indian Ocean. The lotus flower, the hotel’s emblem, symbolizes spiritual fulfillment; a rebirth embodying this experience of total retreat from the world and the awakening of the senses.
ACCOMMODATION
The villas have been purposefully designed to stimulate the senses – with views that are unforgettable and with textures and flawless attention to detail. Gracious and spacious, secluded and sublime. Each villa offers butler service that embodies the spirit of Maia, to enhance the stay. The ten Signature Villas are all completely secluded from one another and have direct access to the beach, with the exception of the “Bill Bensley” Villas located on the hillcrest, which were the designer’s favorite Villas affording spectacular sunsets and dramatic vistas.
The Signature Villas are perfect for families and are in close proximity to the restaurant, spa and ocean.
The twenty Ocean Panoramic Villas are all atop the hillcrest with spectacular 180-degree vistas of the sparkling Indian Ocean. Lush surroundings, infinity pools and outdoor baths provide a privacy perfect for honeymooners.
Dining
At Maia, gastronomical pleasure is a promise – they know that an appetite or even a fetish for food doesn’t keep restaurant hours, the kitchens cater for individual tastes, satiating guests desires with the flexibility to indulge their palate beyond the confines of a regular menu and set dining hours. The skilled culinary team has perfected the art of fusion cooking to create intriguing blends of flavor, texture, color and aroma by placing an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. The chefs of Maia offers Asian, Indian, Mediterranean and Creole cuisine at its finest using only the freshest ingredients. With a policy of flexibility, the chefs are afforded the freedom to satiate individual requirements and tastes.
The Tec-Tec Restaurant at Maia is the only gourmet restaurant to be found on Mahe. It specializes in Mediterranean cuisine with an Asian-Creole accent. Maia’s culinary team focuses on ’haute light cuisine’ for guests seeking low-calorie options. Intuitive and highly trained, Maia’s multi-lingual staff unobtrusively provide matchless service to enhance each superb dining experience to its fullest.
Guests have complete freedom to dine in the privacy of their own villa with a meal organized by the personal butler – or one can take to the beaches for a candlelit dinner alongside the stunning Indian Ocean waves. Barbeques can be arranged in the seclusion of the own villa’s gazebo and there is a wide choice of secluded garden terraces by the poolside providing a refreshing choice for those seeking intimacy.
There is also a choice to indulge in the Chef’s Tasting Menu which showcases the full range of talents of Executive Chef, Manoj Singh, and his kitchen brigade. The Sommelier has carefully paired wines to match each course. The result – a harmonious merging of minds and palettes.
Fine wines and fantastic cuisine are an integral part of Maia’s essence, and as such it is a pleasure to unveil at the Wine Boutique, featuring more than 300 vintages from around the world as well as varietals from modern, avant-garde wine makers from the New World. Maia’s eloquent and engaging Sommelier will guide guests on a journey of discovery, and share the wonders of the world of wines. Apart from formal wine tastings, the Wine Boutique is also available for private, romantic dinners, cocktail functions, and for guests to hand-pick their wine of choice before proceeding to dinner at Tec Tec Restaurant or on the beach, under the Stars of the Seychelles.

Maia shares the benefits of Hatha Yoga and Qi Gong with guests in the peaceful, open air and natural surroundings of Maia Spa.
The crystal clear aquamarine waters surrounding the Maia peninsula are reserved only for the pleasure of non-motorized water sports such as canoeing, kayaking and snorkeling – ensuring the experience of paradise is undisturbed by the sound of a boat engines.
With prolific marine life in one of the safest underwater environments, scuba diving within the archipelago and other reefs within the archipelago is a truly memorable adventure with remarkable encounters for divers of all ages and levels. Professional instruction is available at dive-centers close by Maia. All offsite activities can be organized by your butler.
Spa
The spectacular Spa is a magical place of divine decadence offering world-class treatments accompanied by bird song, waters falling down moss covered granite rocks, sweet tropical aromas and gentle winds brushing leaves. These will be the only things to break the revere in Maia’s Balinese-style Spa. Three individual, private open-air pavilions are separated from each other by natural rock formations. Each spacious pavilion features its own garden, changing rooms and showers.
Besides world-class therapy and beauty treatments with luxurious products, the highly trained staff can offer more than just skin-deep relief by guiding guest through accompanied yoga and Qi Gong sessions.
PHOTOGRAPHY
A photographers dream both above and below water, Maia offer a wonderful array of photo opportunities, the resort is extremely photogenic due to its palm-lined white beaches and tropical gardens. Mahe’s underwater paradise with amazing water clarity offers exciting and rare photographic opportunities for the under water photographer. Besides underwater and landscape photography, the avid macro photographer will have plenty of subjects in the gardens.
